Synopsis
Through four workshops, the 24-Hour Postural Management day will explore key aspects of positioning, movement, posture, and pressure care, with a strong emphasis on comfort, safety, and well-being.
The conference features expert speakers Jo De Clercq, Kay James, Jayne Brewer, Heidi Sandoz, Jenny Rolfe, and Nicola Murphy, offering practical insight and shared expertise across all sessions.
As a conference exclusive, we will be unveiling our latest innovations: Comfort 2 and Presto -giving attendees a rare first look at these brand-new products.

Learning Outcomes
- Understand how effective, person-centred care across a full 24-hour period supports comfort, safety, independence, and well-being.
- Recognise the interrelationship between positioning, movement, posture, and pressure care within a holistic 24-hour care approach.
- Apply practical principles to support people with complex needs, including those living with advanced dementia, through therapy-led positioning, in-bed care, and adapted moving and handling practices.
- Identify common postural limitations and understand how these can affect comfort, function, mobility, and pressure risk across day and night.
- Use observation, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making to improve alignment, support, and comfort in both sitting and lying.
- Understand how support surfaces, equipment, and care-specific products contribute to safe, effective care when selected and used appropriately.
- Recognise when reassessment or escalation to therapy or specialist services is required to ensure ongoing safety and effectiveness of care.
- Communicate care decisions and rationale clearly to colleagues, carers, and individuals to support consistent, high-quality 24-hour care.

Synopsis
This 1 day practical workshop will cover the principles of postural management, how posture and pressure care are related, and how to complete a postural assessment.
There will be a mix of presentation and hands on practical activities. The workshop will concentrate on completing assessment and documenting the outcomes, followed by how to clinically justify recommendations for solution provision.
Learning Outcomes
- Be able to identify red flags for clients with postural issues
- Be aware and understand underlying principles of 24 hour postural management
- Be able to identify the basics of postural assessment and physical anatomy related to this
- Increase confidence in physical assessment skills
- Increase confidence in documenting postural assessment
- Increase awareness of a range of considerations when analysing assessment outcomes
- Be familiar and deepen understanding of basic solutions to manage postural presentations
- Be aware of more advanced solutions and know when and where to refer on if unable to address within own service

This interactive workshop combines practical, hands-on activities with guided discussions to explore the principles of postural assessment and the application of postural care equipment for both sitting and lying. Participants will have the opportunity to:
· Review key considerations for postural assessment and their clinical implications.
· Gain insights into seating and lying support systems, including their appropriate use.
· Engage in practical exercises to apply equipment for case-based problem-solving scenarios.
This session is designed to cater to all levels of experience. For those new to postural care, it offers an introductory overview and practical exposure. For more experienced participants, it provides an opportunity to deepen clinical reasoning and refine problem-solving strategies through advanced case discussions.
