Pressure ulcers – definition, assessment, prevention and treatment
Pressure ulcers are a painful, debilitating condition that can, largely, be prevented. Seen as a measure of harm by NHS England/Improvement and reportable to the CQC in care home settings, understanding how best to protect those within your care from developing a pressure ulcer is an important aspect of care delivery.
Prevention of pressure ulcers is however not always easy and, in some cases, not possible. Understanding how they develop, how to recognise those at risk, how to prevent them and what to do when they do occur is vital knowledge for anyone involved in the care of those vulnerable to pressure ulcers.
Staff with different skill sets can work their way through the whole programme, or they can choose individual modules.

End of life care - what do I need to know?
Identifying when patients are in their last year of life can be challenging. The same can be said for recognising dying. This webinar explores what is available to help us help the people we care for to better plan for the end of their life, and when the time comes to die well. Attendees will learn about the myths associated with palliative and end of life care, and have the opportunity to ask questions towards the end of the session.

Struggle getting legs into bed? Our NEW solution!
Throughout 2024, our clinicians were faced with a recurring query; "I've got a patient who's legs I struggle to get into bed". For many individuals, getting their legs into bed can be challenging, which in turn affects their sleep and health. Today, we're thrilled to introduce our novel solution - the Ascenda. We'll cover some of the benefits of sleeping in a bed, and the contraindications of not being able to get legs into bed. Through case studies, we will illuminate how the Ascenda has improved bed transfers, reduces the need for carers, and promotes independence and dignity.

From observation to action: addressing red flags in postural management and pressure care
Given her experience of working with individuals with complex postural presentations, Sabrina will discuss insights into where she would consider early interventions for sitting and lying to be essential for management of the physical condition and skin integrity. She will also discuss red flags for sitting and lying, such as common early biomechanical risk factors and support surfaces.
