Environments and the impact on clinical communication with Elana Moore

Environments are never neutral- they actively shape how people feel, behave and function. Wherever you live or work, sensory factors such as noise, lighting, layout and overall sensory load influence out ability to regulate, our attention and the ability to engage with others.

This session explores how sensory environments can either support or hinder everyday functioning in care settings. Drawing on sensory science and clinical insight, it will highlight how sensory awareness and small environmental changes can have a significant impact on wellbeing, clinical interactions and outcomes.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to recognise sensory barriers and make practical, realistic adjustments to create environments that better support both staff and those they work with.

Swollen legs, stolen lives: how oedema steals mobility and independence

On Demand

Swollen legs are often dismissed as a minor or inevitable problem. In reality, unmanaged oedema can be the first step toward loss of mobility, independence, and quality of life.

This webinar raises awareness of how lower limb swelling triggers a downward spiral of heaviness, pain, reduced movement, muscle weakness, and fear of activity- often leading to deconditioning and patients becoming 'off-legs.' Everyday coping strategies, such as reduced walking or sleeping in a chair, can unintentionally worsen the problem.

Aimed at all healthcare professionals, this session shifts the focus from treating symptoms to recognising early warning signs and acting sooner. It highlights how simple, timely interventions can protect mobility, prevent avoidable decline, and help people remain independent for longer.
