Bio
Mary is a senior Occupational Therapist with 20 years’ practice experience across community rehabilitation and social care in Oxfordshire. She has held lead roles in moving and handling and postural care. With a particular interest in 24-hr postural care, Mary has spent many years supporting OT colleagues with evidence-based guidance and training, as well as taking on numerous complex assessment requests. Mary completed postural training at the Oxford Centre for Enablement in 2009 and 2016. Mary’s most recent post in social care was managerial support to countywide community-based equipment prescribers with a focus on clinical reasoning and equipment provision.
In 2009, having a compassionate and holistic approach to practice, Mary trained and qualified as a Best Interest Assessor for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, practising in this role for 10 years alongside her community OT work.
Mary joined Accora as a consultant in 2022 and continues to work with the organisation part-time. As part of the clinical team, she delivers face-to-face training on 24-hour postural care, as well as bespoke training for therapists and allied health professionals across the UK. She also contributes to webinars, lunch-and-learn sessions, and other clinical content while continuing her own clinical practice.
