Red flags in seating
This session will explore the critical signs (redflags) that indicate a seating system may be inadequate, unsafe, or contributing to poor health outcomes. Participants will learn how to identify common seating issues, understand their potential consequences, and implement timely interventions to enhance user comfort, safety, and functional independence.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify common red flags in seating systems that may signal a need for reassessment or adjustment, such as pressure injuries, postural asymmetries, or increased agitation.
- Understand the clinical implications of poor seating on respiratory function, skin integrity, digestion, and overall well-being.
- Apply practical strategies to address seating red flags, including when to refer for a specialist assessment, adjust existing equipment, or advocate for new seating solutions
