Postural care and the role of therapeutic lying
In this session we will discuss the principles of 24-hour postural care and the role of therapeutic lying. Predictable body shape changes associated with lying positions and the implications of these on sitting posture will be explored. The essential components of a physical assessment and how this is then interpreted to build therapeutic and stable lying positions will be discussed. The role of equipment as part of this process will be considered along with the challenges of integrating lying positioning as part of everyday life and care.
