Meet the team

This week, we caught up with Jake, one of our dedicated Service Technicians- to hear about his first year at Accora, the miles he’s clocked up on the road, and why solving tricky technical problems is all part of the joy. Jake is a valued member of our UK team based at our office in Cambridgeshire.

What is your role at Accora, and how long have you been part of the team?

I’m a Service Technician, and I joined Accora in May 2024, so I’m still in my first year. It’s been a busy and rewarding start!

What does a typical day look like for you?

Most days, I’m out and about, visiting users of our products at home, in care homes, or in hospitals. I’m there to repair any issues, respond to concerns, and make sure everything is working as it should. It’s all about helping people feel safe and confident with the equipment they rely on.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love the technical side- troubleshooting and solving problems. But even more than that, I enjoy seeing how quickly things can turn around for someone when their equipment is back up and running. Knowing I’ve helped someone feel comfortable and supported again is incredibly satisfying.

What’s something people might not expect about your work?

Probably just how challenging the travel can be! With the amount of miles I cover, the journey itself often becomes a big part of the job- but it’s all worth it when I get there and can make a difference.

What’s one value or mindset that guides how you work?

For me, it’s about empathy- always putting myself in someone else’s shoes. That’s how I make sure I’m delivering the best possible service.

What is a moment or achievement at Accora you’re especially proud of?

I’m proud whenever I can turn a negative experience into a positive one for a user. Being able to walk into a situation that’s frustrating or stressful for someone and leave them feeling reassured- that means a lot to me.

When you're not at Accora, how do you like to unwind or spend your free time?

I’m often out with my wife, hunting down coffee and cake shops!

Thanks for sharing, Jake! It’s clear you bring both heart and technical skill to your work- and we’re lucky to have you on the team. From long drives to quick fixes, you’re making a big impact every day.

Stay tuned for more team stories as we continue to highlight the people behind Accora and the passion that drives us.
