Contractures: what are they and what you can do?
This webinar explores the development and impact of contractures, with a focus on how they affect occupational performance and daily participation. Participants will learn to identify client-centered risk factors, particularly in neurologically impaired populations, and examine the critical role of therapeutic seating in both the prevention and management of contractures. Through practical insights and evidence-based approaches, attendees will gain tools to support posture, promote function, and reduce the progression of contractures in clinical practice.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand how contractures develop and their effects on occupational performance and participation in daily activities.
- Assess individual physical, cognitive, and environmental factors contributing to contracture risk, especially in neurologically impaired populations.
- Evaluate how appropriate seating systems support posture, promote function, and reduce the risk of further contracture development.
